Cellphones get Zoom Telescope

zoom-telescope.jpgWe all know that cellphones these days come with a pretty decent digital camera embedded inside, but these cameras are good for only shots under bright light conditions, faltering badly when it comes to scenes with very little light. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the limitations of a cellphone camera. The other major weakness would be the inability to capture shots that are far off in the distance, as the lens is just not capable of zooming in that much. This could potentially be a problem as some tourists rely on just a camera equipped cellphone to capture their memories in a digital format. Brando of Hong Kong has a solution in the form of the Zoom Telescope.

The Zoom Telescope is capable of offering up to 6x zoom, although it wasn’t stated whether it is optical or digital. Currently compatible with either selected Sony Ericsson or Nokia cellphones, all you need to do is strap the Zoom Telescope to your handset, place the telescope portion securely over your camera’s lens, and you’re good to go. Of course, if you have a much better camera that has at least 2 megapixels, the picture quality would be much better. Just bear in mind that you still won’t be able to capture nuts under dark conditions.

The compatible cellphones from Sony Ericsson’s line includes the K750i, W800i, W810i, W550i, and W600i handsets, while Nokia’s camp of N70, N72, 6230, 6230i, 6680, 6600, 6630, 7610, and 6681 cellphones work just fine with the Zoom Telescope. Each purchase costs $19, and since they aren’t exactly terribly expensive, it could be worth forking out that amount just to test and see if it works as claimed.
